Real Estate Internship & Mentorship Program

Meeting at whiteboard

Program details

The focus of the Real Estate Internship & Mentorship Program (REIMP) is an internship that runs for three to four months from May to August.

Sponsoring organizations provide full-time, paid summer jobs for accepted students and a mentor to act as a contact person for faculty and students.

It's central to the program's goal that sponsors:

  • Mentor their students
  • Introduce their interns to the organization’s role in the real estate industry
  • Provide opportunities for meaningful work

Ideally, the internships involve a workload that allows students to see how their studies apply in the industry.

The program is run by UBC Sauder’s Hari B. Varshney Business Career Centre with assistance from the UBC Centre for Urban Economics and Real Estate.

The UBC Sauder School of Business and the UBC Centre for Urban Economics and Real Estate are extremely grateful to Grosvenor Americas for providing financial support to administer this program and help in supporting the Centre.

Applications Open: January

How to apply

Please submit your application on COOL (Jobs > Search) and include the following:

  1. Cover letter indicating why you're interested and would be a good choice for a real estate internship
  2. Resume
  3. UBC transcript showing your grades (PDF or screenshots are fine)

Admission to the program is through a three-step process:

  1. A pool of candidates is selected from UBC Sauder undergraduates who have taken real estate or urban economics courses.
  2. Using resumes, brief personal statements, and personal interviews, the most promising internship candidates are selected from this pool.
  3. A selection of these top students is offered to each sponsor so that both sponsors and interns are matched by choice. Both the sponsor and the student must agree for the internship to occur.
