Orientation Leader and Volunteer hiring 2019

Hey Sauder!

Start practicing those cheers. We're now hiring Orientation Leaders, Spirit Leaders, and Volunteers for 2019.

We're looking for individuals who:

  • embody the Sauder Spirit
  • are passionate about making sure every new student feels welcome in the UBC Sauder community
  • exemplify Sauder’s core values of rigour, respect, and responsibility
  • know how to have responsible fun with a good sense of judgement
  • love being a Sauder student!

We're hiring for three key positions. The deadline to apply is Sunday, February 3, 2019, at 11:59pm.

Changes for 2019

With Jump Start, Imagine Day, The Spark and Spark Chats now available for new students, The Spark 2019 has been shortened from three days to two. We're confident that our exec, leaders and volunteers can provide the same Sauder-Spirit welcome and build a strong sense of community within the teams in a condensed two-day schedule, giving participants and leaders a free day on Sunday before the start of another school week. The Spark will take place on the evening of Friday, September 6 and all day/evening of Saturday, September 7, 2019.

Position descriptions

Orientation Leader

We're looking for leaders with diverse involvement experiences, responsibility, and above all, Sauder Spirit! In addition to the attributes listed above, you must be committed to supporting your group throughout their first year at all three programs (Imagine UBC, The Spark and Spark Chats).

What is the time commitment of an Orientation Leader?
Do I have to commit to all three programs (Imagine UBC, The Spark and Spark Chats)?
What if I plan to do exchange or co-op and can’t attend some of the Spark Chats events?
What if I'm also a Jump Start Leader?
How are leader hiring decisions made?
