Am I the right fit for this option?
Completing the Finance Option will provide you with the professional competencies required to enter financial management positions in business enterprises, investment management and services organizations, banking, financial institutions, or government agencies concerned with private finance.
Areas of study in finance include:
- Capital markets and investment management
- Corporate finance
- Banking and credit
- Private equity and venture capital
- Financial advisory
- Compliance and risk management
- International finance
- FinTech, crypto, and DeFi
- Climate, impact, and socially responsible investing
Because the program is competitive, you should be able to demonstrate the ability to do well in your quantitative core courses. To self-declare the Finance Option, you must achieve a minimum grade of 67% in each of COMM 190, COMM 191, COMM 293, COMM 294, COMM 295, and COMM 298.
Early Start to the Finance Option
The Early Start to the Finance option allows students interested in a career in finance to take finance courses earlier. This is designed to better prepare students for competitive finance internships.
