Assistant Dean and Director
As the Assistant Dean and Director of the BCom program, I am responsible for the vision, leadership, and strategic planning for operation of the BCom program and related student services. My role is also to act as the liaison between students and the faculty. The UGO administers all matters concerning recruiting, admissions, academic programs, study abroad and exchange programs, personal and academic advising, scholarships and graduation. Please make a point of becoming familiar with our staff and services. We are here to assist you in any way we can!
Associate Director, Academic Services
I am responsible for the oversight of the academic functions of the Undergraduate Office, including academic program management, student advising, student services, and Commerce course planning and scheduling. I am also an Academic Advisor, supporting BComs in meeting their academic goals and connecting them with the resources that they may need. If you have questions regarding your program, registration, course planning or academic issues I would be pleased to assist you.
Associate Director, Admissions and Recruitment
UBC is my second home! Not only am I a UBC alumna, since graduating and prior to landing in UBC Sauder, I worked in a variety of capacities and units on campus including managing and/or advising in the Faculty of Law, School of Nursing and Enrolment Services. As part of the Admissions and Recruitment team, I support the university and school on our strategic goals to continue building a vibrant student population by working with others on campus in activities such as advising prospective students about the admissions process, our program, and resources; planning and participating in outreach events; facilitating the processing of applications to the BCom program and many other initiatives. As a member of the UGO team, I am also here to meet and greet, advise and help new students transition into our program.
Admissions and Recruitment Officer
I have been working in the admissions field for many years, and my goal is to bring outstanding students to the BCom program who can help enrich the environment at Sauder and continue to be successful. If you have any questions about the admissions process or requirements, please feel free to contact me.
Academic Advisor and Program Coordinator
I work with UBC Sauder students in the design of their educational plan based on their life goals, abilities, and aspirations while helping them interpret policies and procedures as they apply to their programs. Being a lifelong learner, I help them identify and improve their study habits and time management skills to enhance their academic performance. I also evaluate and make strategic recommendations for areas of improvement in student advising services while working closely with Commerce Peer Advisors. I have an M.Ed. in Adult Learning and Education, a B.Arch from ITESM, and over 15 years of experience in the field of education.
International Student Coordinator
I have worked in the field of student recruitment and advising for many years, joining UBC Sauder in 2007 as an Academic Advisor and Recruiter for the BCom program. My career has been spent both in Canada and Australia, starting my career managing the Sociocultural Program for the UBC English Language Institute and also working as a study abroad and exchange advisor at Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. I hold a BSc from the Faculty of Agriculture at UBC and a graduate degree in International Relations from Macquarie University.
International Student Coordinator and BUCS Advisor
I have enjoyed advising international students since I first worked as a graduate school advisor and management trainer in Tokyo, Japan in 2001. I joined the UBC Sauder Undergraduate Office in 2005 and have strived to help each individual student reach their academic goals. I graduated from UBC in 1996 with a BA in International Relations and a Minor in History. After UBC, I completed my graduate studies in the Asia Pacific Management Cooperative Program at Capilano University.
I work with students to help them understand academic requirements, university policy and procedures and what kind of university resources are available to them. Equally important, though, is the collaborative work I do with students in exploring opportunities for personal and academic growth and in identifying strategies for capitalizing on their university experience. Before I joined UBC, I was an instructor and also had roles in education management. I have a BA in Political Science from SFU, an MA in East Asian Studies from Sogang University in Seoul and an MSc in Japanese Studies from the University of Oxford.
Student Engagement and Academic Advisor
In my role, I work with students all across the faculty to promote student success and opportunities for involvement. As an academic advisor I’m here to support your academic and personal progression throughout your degree, and would love to work with you one on one to help you achieve your goals and plan for your future. Through my work on programs such as Imagine Day and the UBC Sauder Transition Team, or my role in supporting clubs and societies, I’m also here to help connect you to the community and help you develop your leadership skills and experiences.
Student Engagement Officer
I am the lead advisor for The Spark planning committee, a support for CUS clubs and services, and your go-to person for anything related to student engagement. I graduated from UBC Sauder in 2014 with a specialization in Marketing – however after my involvement in the Student Leadership Conference, CUS, COMM 202, JDC West and orientations I knew that event planning is what I wanted for my career. After 2 years of planning events in and out of Sauder, I am now excited to be part of the UGO team to help students plan The Spark Orientation and explore many other involvement opportunities.
My role as the academic advisor is to assist students as they navigate through the BCom program. I have worked as an advisor at a graduate school for the past 4 years. Prior to that, I worked a number of years at Simon Fraser University, as well as in the field of crisis management. Any academic program can pose its challenges and I look forward to working with our UBC Sauder students to achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals. I hold a BA degree in Psychology and Biomedical Physiology & Kinesiology. Currently, I am completing a MA degree in Organizational Psychology.
As an academic advisor, I assist students with planning their studies on a path to the BCom degree. My mission is to get students’ questions answered and provide them with guidance through their program, so they can achieve their academic goals and prepare for what’s to come in their professional lives.
Study Abroad and Exchange Programs Coordinator
I support UBC Sauder students in their participation in international programs; from the early stages of promotion through to transferring credits post-experience, and everything in between. I have travelled extensively and know first-hand the many amazing benefits of international exposure and studying abroad. I am also responsible for entrance and continuing student awards.
I manage the UGO's communications to the BCom program's applicants and current students through email, the myBCom bulletins newsletter, myBCom and prospective student websites, social media channels, digital screens, and print materials. I strive to provide targeted, relevant, and timely information about the many opportunities and services students can access during their time here. I'm an alumnus of UBC with a BSc in Biology.
