COMM_V 453 - Financial Accounting-Advanced

This course examines advanced financial accounting including inter-corporate investments, transactions and balances in foreign currencies, and accounting principles applicable to not-for-profit organizations. The course will prepare the student for the professional practice of accounting.

Learning objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Prepare journal entries for investments in equity securities with varying levels of influence
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for Canadian parent companies and their domestic and foreign subsidiaries
  • Account for transactions denominated in foreign currencies including hedged transactions
  • Preparation journal entries and financial statements for not-for-profit organizations.

Prerequisite: All of COMM 353, COMM 450.
