COHR 405 - Managing the Family Business
Managing and working in a family business presents unique challenges: family issues can conflict with business issues. This course examines governance structures and tools to manage the interface between the family and the business.
This course has four basic objectives:
- to strengthen your awareness of the importance and competitive strengths of family businesses.
- to develop your understanding of the unique and complex challenges that both family businesses and business families’ face.
- to enhance your appreciation of the different priorities and perspectives of various stakeholders associated with family businesses.
- to build your knowledge of the managerial and advisory practices that can help improve the financial and relational prospects for family businesses.
Prerequisite: COMM 292 and one of COMM 203, COMM 392.
