COHR 405 - Managing the Family Business

Managing and working in a family business presents unique challenges: family issues can conflict with business issues. This course examines governance structures and tools to manage the interface between the family and the business.

Learning objectives

This course has four basic objectives:

  • to strengthen your awareness of the importance and competitive strengths of family businesses.
  • to develop your understanding of the unique and complex challenges that both family businesses and business families’ face.
  • to enhance your appreciation of the different priorities and perspectives of various stakeholders associated with family businesses.
  • to build your knowledge of the managerial and advisory practices that can help improve the financial and relational prospects for family businesses.

Note: COHR 405 will not be offered in 2023W.
