Serious about landing a summer internship in the capital markets

Find out if a career in the investment banking sector is right for you by participating in the Capital Markets Training Program (CMTP).

Program details

This program will introduce you to evaluation/modelling (technical) skills and other important knowledge needed for this career path. It:

  • Prepares finance students for careers in the capital markets and investment banking fields
  • Showcases the quality of UBC Sauder students to capital markets employers
  • Provides participants access to high-quality online technical workshop training by a leading organization that offers new hire training to banks worldwide

Acceptance into the program is based on your:

  • Potential for a career in Capital Markets
  • Understanding of the skills required to succeed
  • Academic history and extracurricular activities

Group intake interviews will be conducted.

Eligibility

This program is open to BCom Year 2 & 3 and Co-op students who:

  • Are looking to apply for internships in Summer 2025 and
  • Are returning to full-time studies in September 2025

Program requirements

If accepted into the program, you will be expected to complete all aspects of the program, including workshops and assignments. You may also be selected for inclusion in our resume book sent to employers. Finally, you will be asked to sign an agreement to:

  • Pay the program fee by the specified time
  • Attend and fully participate in all workshops, prep sessions, and events
  • Complete all homework assignments from workshops and any prep material before the program
  • Immediately inform the Business Career Center and Learning Strategies Group if you are unable to attend any session
  • Complete all surveys and submit the information requested about your employment search and its results

*No refunds will be issued if you cannot complete the program.

How to apply

Please note that there is one application form for applying to either the Capital Markets Training Program (CMTP), Finance Mentorship Program (FMP), or both.

Please submit your application on COOL (Jobs > Search) and include the following documents in your application:

  1. Completed FMP/CMTP Application Form (attached to the COOL job posting). Be sure to indicate which program(s) you're applying to on the attached application
  2. Current resume
  3. Most recent transcript (official or unofficial screenshot)

The BCC will conduct group intake interviews for both programs.
