Submissions to the Canadian Journal of Undergraduate Research

The Canadian Journal of Undergraduate Research (CJUR) is a student-led biannual publication, founded in 2015 by a group of undergraduate students at UBC. Their goal is to provide an accessible platform for undergraduates to gain experience in academic publishing.

CJUR is currently accepting submissions for its summer issue. Their submission deadline is May 30, 2017.

Made in Italy or Made in China? - A public talk by Dr. Gaoheng Zhang

Since Marco Polo, intercultural and trade relations between China and Italy have flourished. In recent decades, the two countries faced strenuous competition in the manufacturing sector. According to conventional wisdom, while Italian fashion represents creativity and refined style, mass production characterizes ‘Made in China’ garments. Dr. Zhang’s talk will focus on the textile and clothing industry in Prato, Italy, which has become emblematic of the presumed conflicts between these two modes of manufacturing.

Mitacs Globalink and UBC Chongqing Research Award

Mitacs and UBC have partnered to offer undergraduate and graduate UBC students the opportunity to receive funding for research activities at select universities in the Chongqing Municipality, China. 

The Mitacs Globalink Research Award supports student research in any academic discipline in partner countries. The awards are intended to provide funding to partially cover the costs of travel and accommodations for graduate and senior undergraduate students doing research projects of 12-24 weeks at a host university.
