COMR 100 - Introduction to Business (formerly COMM 100)

This course informs potential managers and knowledge workers in all business areas about issues and problems related to the planning, establishment, and management of a successful business. The course and the text take an "integrative" approach. That is, the course aims to introduce the student to the concept of "business," as a whole, by examining the types of activities any business engages in. During this inquiry, the course will investigate a number of problems and opportunities that typically occur while a business conducts these activities.

Students will gain an understanding of the fundamentals of business structure, activities, and the forces — both internal and external — that impact businesses. In particular, by studying how the "parts" interact together to form the "whole," you will learn how businesses work, and about how the interaction of the parts determines whether businesses fail or succeed.
