Accenture IoT Hackathon

At Accenture’s Internet of Things (IoT) Hackathon on September 15 and 16, university students will work under the mentorship of Accenture experts to solve a real world problem faced by one of the company's clients. During the Hackathon, participants will leverage some of Accenture’s latest methodologies to help develop their solution. The solutions will be judged by a joint panel of industry experts and Accenture Leaders.

The event is open to students in Years 3 and 4. Apply by September 6 for consideration.

Learning Analytics Hackathon

Calling all open data and learning analytics enthusiasts! The University of British Columbia is hosting its 3rd Learning Analytics Hackathon on March 10 & 11, 2018. This hands-on event is open to students, faculty members, researchers—and anyone who’s interested in learning more about data analysis and exploring how data can improve student learning. Innovative ideas or designs could become part of UBC’s Learning Analytics project.

No prior experience working with data is necessary. Optional mini-workshops will be offered to participants in two streams:

UBC BizTech LunchTime Series

UBC BizTech and the UBC Sauder Dhillon Centre are co-hosting a panel on ethical issues facing the tech industry today. Experts will be covering diverse topics related to technology such as the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence, environmental issues, job security in a market being dominated by automation, and IT security.
