ShakeOut BC

To help the campus community prepare for an earthquake, UBC participates in the annual province-wide ShakeOut BC earthquake preparedness exercise.

On October 19 at 10:19am, practice DROP, COVER, and HOLD ON, the appropriate action to reduce injury and death during earthquakes.

  • DROP to the ground (before the earthquake drops you!),
  • Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table, and
  • HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops.
